Guitar pedal/effects or even a new guitar?

Hi guys..after playing guitar for 5 years or so I've been wanting to add some substance to my guitar playing and have recently thought of buying a guitar effects pedal but I'm a bit lost as to which one to buy!...I've never used effects but stayed with using my Marshall amp [MG15CDR] (which gives me basics like reverb and overdrive) and a really sh*tty guitar - a cheap tanglewood! Im looking to get the effect which funtwo used to play canon rock see -http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF1A8 or just something that adds a heavier rock sound...with so many pedals to choose from its difficult to get the right one! Im sort of on a budget of about 80-100 quid so id be looking for maybe two pedals (if i get them off ebay) and not an effects board which would be way beyond my budget!! Could someone also justify why a new guitar would be an option given all these new pedals!???...why would i want to buy a new guitar???...thanks in advance

Get a cry baby wah wah pedal. This is a must learn skill for any serious rockin guitarist! It will add much to your "vocabulary" and make you a way better player. You will learn so much with the crybaby.Once you have a good familiarity with the wah, go get a IBANEZ tube screamer and that will tighten up your distortion and give you real crunch. These options won't cost you a lot of $.
While you are having fun with your new pedal, you can save your money and make the big move to a new guitar once you skills have improved. A good guitar is something you can have for the rest of your life, so save up, be patient, and you will not regret getting a great guitar for the amp you have. Do not skimp on your git vittle, as it is like your girlfriend... you will always be together so you better love it! Good luck and have fun rockin out!
