The history of the martin acoustic electric dates back 175 years ago and even at this stage, it still remains family business. They create superior quality acoustic guitars and acoustic electric basses and guitars. Basically, C.F. Martin was a German, but when he faced the violin maker's guild, they started interfering in his activities as he was considered as a threat to the other guitar makers. And that's why, he left for United States and became very successful and built his own guitar company.

In 1800 the martin guitars did a lot of innovations which included X bracing system which was designed for guitar top. This unique system provided the classic tone which is still heard in some Marin's guitars today. In 1867 C.F. Martin passed away and left everything for his son. Even he died unexpectedly leaving the company to son frank. Frank expanded the martin guitar company and made mandolins and with the help of Harry hunt made a design called as the Dreadnought Guitar which became very popular.

In 1931, the company incorporated the dreadnought design for creating the most famous and revolutionary Dreadnought guitar. It is also said that martin company designed the dreadnought acoustic guitar and later other manufacturers made these on the base of original dreadnaught series. With popularity reaching new heights, the martin company prospered and built up a factory in Nazareth which is still functioning properly. Even now, the top notch woods are used and expertly inspected and therefore Martin is the best among all.

Martin has his own custom shop and also has his regular line of acoustic electric and other line of guitars. The Dreadnought series is the most popular and it is considered as his best piece of art. The other acoustic guitars are Limited edition series, backpacker, X series, road series, Golden Era Marquis, Vintage series, etc. You will find lot of guitarists swearing by the Martin guitars. Be it Eric Clapton, Nancy Wilson, Bob Shane, Johnny cash, Sting, Buddy Guy, Paul Simon, etc and they are all big fans of martin guitars. Even now, the top notch woods are used and expertly inspected and therefore Martin is the best among all.

Two Great Easy Electric Guitar Songs

When first deciding to play guitar, you will have a choice to make. Is it your long-term goal to play the acoustic guitar to the best of your ability? Or is the real purpose of taking guitar lessons to master the electric guitar? For those in the latter category, there are a couple of great and easy guitar songs that are worth mentioning. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Before trying to play anything, be sure to work on the exercises and activities that help make you a great guitarist. If you have an instructor, he or she will walk you through these things.

But once you have gone through the chords, strumming, tablature, hand positions and all those details, you will be just about ready to start playing some real music. For the electric guitar player, two of the easiest and best songs to learn are "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, and "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. These certainly are easy guitar songs for beginners to try their luck. It may not sound pretty to begin with, but with a bit of practice and dedication some amazing things might begin to happen.

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" is not only one of the more famous songs written and performed by Nirvana, but a great example of power chords. If you do not know what those are right now you will later on in your lessons. It also helps you build your overall guitar playing skills, hitting on important techniques that any guitarist should have in mind when playing.

"Wish You Were Here" will be a bit more of a challenge. Though an easy guitar song, "Wish You Were Here" has a solo that will take some time to master. There are several other advanced techniques and guitar terminology that will come into play when you take the tablature for this song to your instructor.

Remember that any song you find online to play will take a lot of practice and hard work on your end. Songs are, by their very nature, a step up from what you start out working on. They are difficult, time-demanding, and yet altogether worthwhile. These two electric guitar hits are great easy guitar songs for beginners to get their feet wet with. So find the music for them, have your instructor take a look, and perhaps they will be incorporated into one of your coming lessons.

Guitar Plectrums & Guitar Strings

There is a wealth of guitar accessories available and many manufacturers make the same type of product. Many products come do the same thing but have large differences in price point so this can sometimes be confusing for many new guitarists.

The old saying “You get what you pay for” does ring true in some circumstances but the volume and quality of guitar accessories available are ever becoming harder to distinguish. For example: If you were buying a product made of a solid wood, this would cost much more than a product made of plywood, why? Simply because the raw materials are more expensive.

The guitar accessories I am going to talk about are guitar plectrums and guitar strings.

Guitar Plectrums (Picks) are usually small triangular pieces of plastic that you use to strike the strings of your guitar with. Plectrums have many different thicknesses, materials, and sizes that all factor into the job they do, these variants create a different sound. More thinner and flexible plectrums generally are best suited to playing rhythm guitar, as they pass the strings quickly with less resistance. You’ll also hear a lot more of a flicking sound (a little like a scratch) as they pass over the string that is to some, desirable. This only really happens with the thinnest of plectrums.

The thicker picks can be used more for lead guitar playing, as they produce a good amount of attack. They generally produce a more even sound and you get less flicking sound as they pass the strings. However, the sound you produce will differ, dependant on how hard your plectrum grip is. If you have a rigid grip a thinner plectrum may be beneficial as trying to play fast with a thick plectrum could be tricky.

The plectrums I use are the Dava Control’s. The have a thinner central area that alters how hard the pick is dependant of how close to the tip you hold it. So I suppose you could call it a combination thickness plectrum. Guitar Plectrums only cost a few pence anyway so I would recommend getting a few different ones and try them out to see what you like best.

Guitar Strings come in different gauges, the first question you will be asked when you go into a music shop to buy a replacement set of strings is “what gauge do you want?”

String gauge affects the tone and the playability of your guitar. If you have a higher gauge string, there is greater tension. Heavy gauge strings generate a higher volume, however the greater the tension, the more finger pressure is needed to fret the strings properly.

One major benefit of higher tension strings is that they vibrate in a shallower fashion, which allows closer adjustment to the fret board before getting string buzzes. A pretty standard Acoustic guitar string gauge is 12-54, and 9-42 on electric guitars. Altering your string gauge may require adjustment to your guitar in order to maintain the same action (Height between the string and fret board). On the flip side, lower string tension will cause the strings to lie lower which may result in buzzing, but if you already have a high action then you could solve that problem with a new set of strings.

I actually prefer a medium gauge (a set of 10’s) string as it produces a more reliable string bend. The ones I use are the D’addario XL’s 10- 46 (regular light gauge) on my electric guitars and on my acoustic guitars I always use Brass wound D’addario EJ16 Light (Gauge 12-53). Brass strings produce a rich bright tonality that lasts well.
